Boardwalk refresh
The boardwalk outside the surf club is getting a refresh. As part of the wider programme to restore access around Mauao, the boardwalk outside the camp ground is being replaced after being damaged during the landslide events and subsequent recovery works. Preparation work is now underway, with construction set to begin in late October. The new boardwalk is expected to be open and ready for use by the end of November.
Mount Hot Pools car park clean up
Work has begun to clean-up the Mount Hot Pools car park area. This work is expected to take a few days and will happen during daytime hours. The site remains closed to the public, with safety exclusion zones in place. This work is not expected to affect traffic or access to Adams Avenue.

The BOP Hang Gliding and Paragliding Club has around 90 pilots and manages coastal sites and inland thermal flying sites in the BOP area. Some of these sites are on private land, or very sensitive landmarks, so it is essential that visiting pilots contact us before flying.
Our Club’s purpose:
To promote hang gliding and paragliding in New Zealand, and to foster strong relationships between pilots, the New Zealand Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association, the Civil Aviation Authority, flying site owners, local authorities, local Iwi, and the general public. Encouraging the exchange of knowledge and information and ensure the adherence to the rules and regulations in order to promote safety and to secure our flying sites for future enjoyment.
